My Story
My first experience with the Steel Pan involved me an overly curious 4.5-year-old who had a love for music and due to a paralysis in my right hand could play piano or flute like my friends were - it was love at first sight. From there I learnt within a traditional Steel Pan Band setting and eventually started private lessons. Once I became more passionate my Music Teacher Mother started my formal training with AMEB Musicianship and between my formal training and informal ear training via my Steel Pan lessons, I had a really unique experience that helped develop my current knowledge of music and how I teach others today. After 1 year my teacher left and due to barely anyone playing the Steel Pan at the time, I took the building blocks I had and my formal training and taught myself. I started with classical and soundtrack pieces until I started my HSC. Once HSC came along I had finished my AMEB Grades (Musicianship and 4th Grade Vocals) and was starting to challenge myself with faster songs and getting into the world of arranging.

I have now 3 years of teaching experience ranging from Music to Swimming Lessons. From as young as I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher and spread my knowledge to inspire others and allow them to see the amazing things music can do. I have started to do this as a contractor for my local Primary School where I am co-ordinating the new music program and running the Percussion Groups. The 11 Years 3-6 students that I am currently teaching are not only learning and having the opportunity to learn 'We Will Rock You' on Boomwhackers and Drums, but they are teaching me every week and constantly challenging how I teach my lessons (for the better!) and I believe this is what teaching is all about. Your Growth and the Growth of the Knowledge Around You.

Finally, I completed my Bachelor's Degree at JMC Acadamy (2020-2022) and within that course, I got the opportunity to work with amazing Musicians who taught me to solo and arrange for the Steel Pan and now I am studying a master of Teaching at the University of Sydney to further develop my knowledge in music and teaching!
