WEEK 8 PART 2

WEEK 8 PART 2

Like I said at the beginning its a big week...

Anywho here is another video of the Edison Robot Playing Sumo Wrestling...

Finally, we got to see how the Kookaberry programming used with the play dough xylophone could be adapted to create a massive keyboard that could be stood on 👇

Overall today was amazing and I am even going to look into the Girls programming networking for my younger sister and there tutoring program because it looks so much fun!

In Extension today we looked into the world of rum programming. We first had a look at Khun and Hein's projects but James took another route were we are combining the two Projects in chapter 8 - Drum Programming and Beat Making. Today we focused on Groove Pizza and LaunchPad

Groove Pizza was really cool as it was basically a geometric approach to learning drum beats. This program is really good for the integration of Maths into music. For students who really like Maths and Geometry this would appeal to them. Below is a clip of a drum beat I programmed 👇

Each colour and shape are a different type of drum and each genre or kit has a complete different colour scheme. There are also features where you can pick pre made drums and change the tempo, time signature and feel of the beat.

Launchpad has always been a favourite of mine and I've seen it applied in schools where students make there own samples or use the pre made ones to create a song. It is very easy composition that can be made fun by mucking around with the features. Below is a 5 minute session I screen Recorded 👇

We are continuing this topic into next week but from reading this section on Khun and Hein and discussion in class, these programs are really good as they can be accessed by anyone and are easy composition tools that inspire students to export them into Ableton or Logic o=to further produce a song.
