WEEK 2 AT USYD

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

WEEK 2 @ UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY MTEACH

Today we recorded a podcast!!! We had the amazing Brad Fuller and got the opportunity to create, script and record our own podcast on audio interfaces and microphones. We had to answer 6 questions and create it for High school aged student. From those six questions we went over types of microphones, polar patterns, audio interfaces (step by step to connect to your computer), Logic Pro settings and then into digital effects such as reverb, delay, distortion and EQ. It was a lot of fun and this project would be really simple for year 7-10 to complete on a topic they have a passion for. An example of this could fall under the learning experience of listening where they have to pick a band, song, genre etc and create a 5-10 minute podcast on their/its tropes, characteristics, why they like them etc. This also gets students to engage with the concepts of music and other syllabus content in a fun and engaging way.

I found that this along with the work in Extension class extending on last weeks arranging clips related to self research and learning. Within extension we shared our work with each other and used a self marking rubric with hoe we would have marked ourselves and others.

This task was fun as we were actively learning in a collaborative way that allowed us to explore our inner creativity and create an art from in our music, or in this case podcast. Overall it was really fun and I would highly recommend to use in a classroom as it promotes self learning and also covers basic editing skills and recording into a DAW with a range of equipment.
